Keep the seedbed consistently moist until the new grass has established. Light, regular watering is generally better than allowing the soil to dry out completely.

Wait until the new grass reaches approximately 50–75 mm (2–3 inches) before the first cut. Use a sharp mower blade and remove only the top third of the grass.
